Small businesses play a critical role in communities, over and above financial performance. Following on from the 2019 reports Small Business Opportunity Creators and Small Business Community Impact to understand the role of businesses in the community, peak b has looked into the immense value small businesses generate through their business practices.
The Small Business Community Value report looks at how small businesses deliver value through people, local organisations and to health and the environment. It is clear that through hiring practices, flexibility, time and money donated to the local community and environmental care, communities are receiving vast amounts of irreplaceable support from small businesses across the UK.
This report starts the difficult process of valuing this contribution and encouraging other stakeholders in the sector to better recognise and reward small businesses for the value they deliver.
